Tang Ying Xian

Tang Ying Xian started her music journey  where she to learned to play piano at the age of 4 and completed ABRSM Grade 8 Piano in 2016. She started to learn cello in Kuen Cheng Philharmonic Orchestra (KCPO) in 2013 and has played in said orchestra for 6 years (2013 – 2018). She was promoted to section leader of cello section of KCPO since 2015 till 2018

Ying Xian started cello lesson under Mr. Chan Ling Chee in 2018 and completed Trinity Grade 8 Cello in 2019. Joined Selangor Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO) since 2015 and is currently a member of Musicians Linkage’s Philomusica String Orchestra.

Competitions (Cello)

• 27th & 28th March 2014 – Bronze in Pertandingan Ensemble Alat Muzik Tali Barat Sekolah-sekolah Menengah Peringkat Kebangsaan

• 12th & 13th June 2015 – Gold with Honors Award in UTP-Huazong National Music Art Championship Red Sonata Fiesta 2015 (String Orchestra Competition – Secondary School Category)

• 14th – 16th July 2016 – Gold Award in UTP-Huazong National Music Art Championship Red Sonata Fiesta 2016 (National Brass Band/Strings Competition – Secondary School Category)

• 7th – 8th July 2017 – Gold Award in UTP-Huazong National Music Art Championship Red Sonata Fiesta 2017 (National Brass Band/Strings Competition – Secondary School Category)
